On the palate, juicy flavors of creamy cassis, macerated blackberry, cherry kirsch, black licorice, and peppery plum envelope the rich, saturated mouthfeel. This wine is smooth and silky with velvety tannins and a generous lengthy finish.

  • A Cab drinker’s Merlot!

  • Grapes for this Malbec are grown in the Andes Mountains of Argentina, then chilled and transported by ocean voyage to Caymus, where we use our winemaking techniques to create a style that is dense, dark and supple. Falling outside standard labeling rules, Red Schooner does not include a vintage date but is known by the voyage from which it traveled (i.e. Voyage 12 is the 2022 vintage). Strikingly smooth, with scents and flavors of dark fruit and fine, textural tannins.

    This ruby-red gemstone wine is a beautiful, medium-bodied, southern Rhône-style Grenache-forward GSM blend with aromas of black cherry, strawberry, raspberry, lavender, tobacco, herb, spice and white pepper encompassing the classic elements and style of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, swirling with sour cherry jamminess, raspberry, strawberry and spontaneous bursts of rose water and cedar.

  • Aromas of violets, wild cherries and spice.  The Syrah and Mourvèdre are the perfect supporting cast, giving the wine depth, a bit of tannin and earthiness.

  • The Walking Fool is named after a long-ago relative who was often seen traveling by foot – thus earning this affectionate moniker. Featuring Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, this wine is smooth and lively, with juicy raspberry, notes of espresso and softly fine tannins.

    This is a great example of how American Oak influences wine aroma and flavor!

Cabernet Sauvignon

  • This is a truly remarkable vintage of Napa’s iconic flagship wine. The bouquet is intense with fragrant notes of wild sage, blackcurrant, cedar, and fresh mint. The palate is expansive and full-bodied with a sumptuous mouthfeel, showcasing layers of ripe blackberry, redcurrant, and red rose petal alongside earthier tones of graphite, licorice root, gravely stone, and dark chocolate. Subtle baking spices from the French oak barrel aging provide sandalwood, clove, and Ceylon cinnamon notes, while the signature “Rutherford Dust” tannins are silky, polished, and fine-grained, finishing long with a cocoa powder texture. Slightly reserved upon release but incredibly drinkable, elegant, and pleasing, the tannins provide approachability with beautiful harmony and balance. There is significant presence, depth, and concentration in this Private Reserve, foreshadowing cellar-worthy potential that will continue to evolve, unfold, and develop across the next few decades.

  • Fun Fact: The Gryphon is the traditional symbol of Genoa, Italy, the birthplace of Louis Martini.

    The Gryphon was sourced from some of the most coveted vineyards in the Napa Valley, with a focus on the southern region to emphasize freshness and vibrancy. The fruit was hand-harvested and made in small fermenters at our winery. The wine underwent 19-month élevage in barrel (55% new French oak). 

  • Aromas of dark berries, baking spices, cocoa, tobacco, and leather. This is a full-bodied wine with complex aromas carry over onto the palate combined with layers of ripe black fruit and vanilla on the palate. and I find myself doing less sipping Velvety on the tongue and has a fulsome mouthfeel that leads to a balanced, satisfying finish.

    Blended from Cakebread’s special spots throughout the Napa Valley region, including the renowned cab appellations of Rutherford and Oakville, which impart classic Napa Valley bold fruit intensity, as well as the warmer Calistoga area to the north and the cooler southern reaches of the Suscol watershed, which contribute layers of complexity and depth of flavor.

    This wine reveals a fragrant, complex bouquet of ripe blackberry and boysenberry complemented by notes of dark chocolate and toasty oak. Rich and smooth on the palate, the sumptuous dark fruit is balanced by fresh acidity and lush tannins with a lingering, elegant finish and a hint of minerality.

  • This wine features dark cherry and dark plum aromas with hints of vanilla bean, Caramel and warm spice. Full bodied wine with sweet black fruit flavors, toasted oak, coconut and a hint of dried sweet tobacco. It has fine tannins and a pleasant astringency.

Strawberry, black cherry, and cassis prevail up front, while kola nut, mocha, and toasted oak support with a mouth-pleasing character and approachability. Medium bodied with soft tannins and a lovely mouthfeel, this Cabernet is very drinkable upon release.
